For wine lovers of dessert wines, they will be familiar to the word Botrytis, however it is actually the fungus Botrytis cinerea, if not controlled can cause total destruction of a crop.  This fungus in particular the spores present in the environment all of the year.  When the condition is right infections occurs.  There will be less crop.  Cultivars such as Chardonnay, Riesling, Chenin Blanc, Grenache, Muller Thurgau, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Gewurztraminer are susceptible.
